ISWA’s mission is to promote and develop sustainable and professional waste management worldwide.

      8 Mar 2021

ISWA’s (International Solid Waste Association) mission is to promote and develop sustainable and professional waste management worldwide by promoting resource efficiency, and appropriate technologies in both developing and emerging economies. ISWA fosters the concept of reusing waste to its maximum potential and disposing of residual matter safely and professionally to ensure a healthy environment. To reach this goal, the association provides scientific, economic, and social instruments such as an international network, expert working groups, professional events, education and training courses, professional publications, and projects in developing economies. These tools seek to share knowledge and experience in sustainable waste management and climate change mitigation, and to raise the level of international awareness of the global waste emergency we are facing today.

As a Gold Member of the International Solid Waste Association, UBQ Materials was featured in their official publication, WMW (Waste Management World) – where they present information on the latest waste management industry news, technology, products, and services. In this article, available in WMW’s February issue, the magazine covers UBQ’s partnership with Arcos Dorados – the largest independent McDonald’s franchise in the world – revealing how UBQ’s climate positive and price competitive material empowers manufacturers to make a simple switch to sustainability. Today, McDonald’s restaurants in Brazil are serving up orders on new trays manufactured with UBQ’s thermoplastic material – a project that diverted over 1,200 kilos of waste and prevented 3,713 kilos of greenhouse gas emissions. The plan is to continue offsetting the carbon footprint throughout the supply chain by minimizing the use of virgin materials. The new trays represent the first step in the partnership between Arcos Dorados and UBQ Materials, and one of the many projects that aim to rid the world of waste and ensure clean air, water, seas, and soils for future generations.
