The GHG Protocol categorizes the sources of emissions associated with an organization’s activities into three scopes. Scope 1 emissions fall most directly under the organization’s control. Scope 2 refers to the energy purchased by the organization. Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions in the value chain, such as transportation impacts.
