Elevating environmental, social and governance practices.

We Are Certified

To assure the highest standards, the UBQ™ material has been tested and certified by third-party validators. Adhering to worldwide regulations, we guarantee safety, quality and sustainability.
EU REACH
UK REACH
100% UBQ™ Powder became certified by EU REACH – allowing easy commerce into the EU, advancing UBQ’s global expansion. The EU REACH regulation aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment through a system of Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. As a European Regulation REACH applies directly in all 28 Member States of the European Union. It also applies to Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway as member countries of the European Economic Area.
The EU REACH Regulation continues to apply to Northern Ireland, while UK REACH provides the regulatory framework for chemicals in Great Britain. 100% UBQ™ Powder became certified by UK REACH. UK REACH confirms the UBQ™ Powder contains 100 %(w/w) of substances which are either exempt from the obligation to Register or are covered within the supply chain by Registrations with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE). We are prepared to provide enforcement authorities in the UK with the registration details as necessary.
RoHS Directive
Proposition 65
RoHS, the Restriction of the Use of certain Hazardous Substances, is a product level compliance based on the European Union’s Directives. Products that are RoHS compliant do not exceed the amounts allowed of restricted materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). This directive is intended for manufacturers, authorized representatives, importers, and distributors of products. At UBQ, we are committed to the health of the planet and its people in every stage of the process. The UBQ™ material meets the requirements of RoHS Directive 2011/65 EC and 2015/863 EU. The product does not contain any of the RoHS restricted substances above the maximum concentration values allowed according to RoHS Standard.
The Proposition 65 is also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. The proposition establishes a list of chemicals which the state of California’s risk assessment process has determined to present a risk of cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list is updated at least once a year and it now includes around 900 chemicals since it was first created. UBQ Materials declares that the UBQ™ material does not trigger labelling requirements under California’s Safe Drinking Water & Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. At UBQ, we factor our environmental footprint in everything we do. We will continue to monitor the Proposition 65 regulations and affirm that this declaration is accurate, to the best of our knowledge, as of the date of issue.
IATF 16949
SVHC Compliance
IATF 16949 is a standard that establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring continual improvement, defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. The primary focus of IATF 16949 standard is to provide the necessary tools and guidance for companies to guarantee their products meet customer requirements, consistently improving quality and customer satisfaction. It is an independent QMS standard that is fully aligned with the requirements of ISO 9001.
SVHC stands for Substances of Very High Concern which were identified by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA). When a substance is on the SVHC Candidate List, the EU REACH regulation obliges manufacturers and importers to declare and notify their customers if the substance is present in their products and exceeds 0.1% by weight. UBQ Materials prioritizes and aims to ensure environmental compliance and safety of products. We certify that the UBQ™ material does not contain any of the 219 Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) for any of their restricted uses as listed In the Candidate List in a concentration above 0.1 % by weight and in compliance European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Candidate List of SVHC dated from July 08, 2021. We meet the standards established by EU REACH and will continue with our ongoing efforts to ensure compliance as substances are added to the Candidate List.
TSCA Declaration
USDA BioPreferred
TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act) Certificate prioritizes substances for assessment and regulation. This self-declaration document is intended for customs as a verification that all chemical substances imported into the United States are compliant with the TSCA (positive certification) or not subject to TSCA requirements (negative certification). Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) Inventory Expert Service (IES) determined that the UBQ™ material is a mixture of substances listed or exempt from listing and not registerable under the US Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Therefore, new chemical registration is not required and UBQ may be legally imported into the US for commercial use. We certify that all chemical substances are not the subject to TSCA.
UBQ™ is a USDA Certified Biobased product, labeled to certify that the majority of content within the material is bio-based. In the case of UBQ™, this speaks to the ratio of organic matter to mixed plastics in household waste. Third-party verification for this label was administered through the USDA BioPreferred Program. Launched in 2017, the certified biobased product label identifies products made from renewable resources. Use of the label empowers consumers to make informed purchasing decisions based on a product’s ingredients.
ISO 9001
ISO 14001
ISO 9001 is the international standard for Quality Management System (QMS) and certifies companies that have implemented QMS requirements for all areas of the business, including facilities, people, training, services, and equipment. ISO 9001 indicates the Quality Management System is appropriate and effective and demonstrates continuous improvement that ensures customers benefit from receiving company products and services. Internally, this label certifies increased job satisfaction, improved morale, and operational results. Integrating ISO 9001 with ISO 14001:2015, can grow focus while minimizing possible uncertainties. Elements of ISO 9001 can be enhanced with corresponding components of ISO 14001.
ISO14001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance. ISO 14001:2015 is implemented by organizations that wish to set up, improve, or maintain an EMS to conform with its established environmental policy and requirements. The International Standard Organization (ISO) defines an EMS as “part of the management system used to manage environmental aspects, fulfill compliance obligations, and address risks and opportunities.”

GADSL
Near Food Contact
The Global Automotive Declarable Substance List (GADSL) aims to centralize a variety of substance restrictions relevant to automotive OEM’s and suppliers. It includes information about substances relevant to parts and materials supplied by the automotive supply chain to manufacturers for the use of such materials in the production, use and disposal of a vehicle. It is a voluntary industry initiative that aims to provide integrated, responsible and sustainable product development by automobile manufacturers and their supply chain. Substances on this list were tested on UBQ™ and according to Vireo Advisors, neither prohibited substances nor substances requiring declaration were found.
Food comes into contact with many materials during its life cycle before consumption. Such materials are classified as Food Contact Materials (FCM). They are meant to be brought into contact with food, either by direct or indirect contact. EU law provides requirements that businesses must meet to ensure safety and facilitate the movement of goods. Vireo Advisors, LLC evaluated the requirements for authorization of UBQ™ material as a near food contact material (FCM) in the European Union (EU). Based on Vireo Advisors assessment, if a FCM is not in direct contact with the food and separated by a ‘functional barrier’ that prevents it from transferring into the food, it does not need to be authorized by the European Food Safety Authority. UBQ has already performed migration tests on 6% UBQ™ material/polypropylene (PP) and 20% UBQ™ material/PP. These formulations passed the tests and are acceptable for use behind a functional barrier.
